Battle of the Booze: The Doors vs Molly Hatchet
November already!
This year has gone by far too quickly for me.
That being said… this is the last boozy battle for me this year. I’ve been advised that I need to slow my roll and take a much needed break. So, I’ll be skipping December battles and starting in January 2025.
In January, I’ll be starting the playoff battles. Prepare yourselves.
In the meantime, let’s get this battle off the ground.
The Doors
Molly Hatchet
If you’re a blogger and want to join in the fun, please do so! There’s plenty of content for everyone to join in.
In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:
Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.
Pick the contender that you prefer the most
Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.
Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.
Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted on the 8th of this month (or there abouts).
Yeah, I keep thinking about how fast the year seems to have gone and then I look back to think of all the things we did. It's been quite a year for us and primarily in a good way.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about Molly Hatchet in a long time. They used to be really popular for a while. Nice retro listening there, but my vote has to go to the Doors with an old favorite of mine.
Will miss your Battles, but you need to do whatever you need to do. Blessings!

Hard to believe it's November already! Wishing you all the best, Mary.
ReplyDeleteMolly Hatchet gets my vote. Love that "down and dirty" rocknroll! ☺
I'll go with Molly Hatchet here, because harmonica!

ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear that this is your final BOTB installment of the year. However, I completely understand, and certainly your health is far, far more important than whiskey and phone calls!
Although this isn't one of my favorite Doors songs (I still dig a good number of their classic recordings), I still preferred it slightly over the Molly Hatchet song, which I don't believe I've heard before.
It was a pert-close decision, but I gotta stick with Morrison & the boys.
Fun Fact: There's a joint here where I live called Whiskey Tavern, and it supposedly has a reputation for being a bit of a rough place sometimes. (I know a guy who knows a guy who got stabbed there one night some years ago.) I've driven past the place countless times but had never gone in. Bars ain't really my thang now that I'm in my 60s... and po'.
However, about a month ago, after doing a hike in the hills, on my way home I decided to go into Whiskey Tavern for one glass of something to take the edge off (and bring the perspiration down). So I orders a glass of Old Grand-Dad & 7-Up. They don't have Grand-Dad.
"OK, make it Wild Turkey 101 and 7-Up", says I.
They don't have Wild Turkey! Can you imagine a place called Whiskey Tavern that doesn't stock Turkey? (How does anyone have a Happy Thanksgiving in that saloon?!) I had to settle for Jack Daniel's, and a vow never to return.

VOTE = MOLLY HATCHET
ReplyDeleteYou shoulda seen my eyebrows shoot up when I saw Doors vs. Molly Hatchet. Whoa! and Yeehaw! Dig both of these tracks, but I SERIOUSLY dig the MH. Exceedingly cool history of that Doors track, too, though. ~Ed.
Here I thought I'd choose the Doors but I'm going with Molly. I like their grittiness and I don't care for that Doors song
