Call Me Battle: Anne Murray Vs The Beach Boys

Hello?

Hi! It’s Me!  Just calling to let you know that it’s time for another round of the Call Me Battle of the Bands.

I do believe this is one of the last of this series. I’m having a tough time finding some good matchups.  I do have one or two more songs I want to use, but matching them up is becoming a bit difficult.  That means we’ll be doing playoffs soon!

First up on the stage is….

Anne Murray

Our second contender on the stage is….

The Beach Boys

Who will make it to the playoffs? Cast your votes in the comments below. If you find yourself unable to leave a comment, please visit Jingle Jangle Jungle’s facebook page to leave a comment on the post that correlates with this battle.

In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:

  1. Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.

  2. Pick the contender that you prefer the most

  3. Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.

  4. Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.

    1. Stephen McCarthy

    2. Tossing It Out

    3. The Sound of One Hand Typing

    4. Curious As A Cathy

    5. dIEDRE

    6. Debbie DogLady

    7. Boromax aka Ed

    8. Mike’s Ramblings

Are you a blogger and want to join in the fun with your own music battles on the 1st and 15th of each month (or only one battle a month) - reach out to Mr McCarthy to get yourself added to the list!

Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted on the 22nd of this month.

  1. Anne Murray has the voice of an angel. She gets my vote.

  2. I've loved the Beach Boys since my early teen years! One of the greatest groups in rock history for sure. This song is nice--it's fun and clever (as their songs so often are).
However, Anne has such a nice voice and this song was pleasant. It's Sunday. I'm voting for Anne Murray.

As you know, The Beach Boys are one of my all-time favorite musical groups. I had never heard this Anne Murray song before but I liked it instantly. If Anne's song here was competing against almost anyone else, I'd likely be voting for Anne. But I just can't bring myself to vote against The Boys.

Judge Al Bondigas, on the other hand, has indeed ruled for Anne.

  4. I thought for sure I'd be voting for the Beach Boys but I'm giving this to velvet voice Anne Murray.

  5. It's the first I've heard of either song and the Beach Boys were fun. But Anne Murray needing a dollar for a call? What a beautiful song! Since pulling a twenty out of my hat is silly at this point, I'll just give her my whole-hearted vote!

  6. I don't remember either song. The Beach Boys were fun and upbeat, but Anne Murray's silky vocals win out.

  7. VOTE = ANNE MURRAY

I honestly thought in advance that I would vote for the Beach Boys, but I did not care much for their song. Anne's voice was beautiful, as always. ~Ed.
