Call Me! Battle: Pickett vs Squeeze
Welcome back to the Call Me! Battles….
These are songs that mention phone numbers either in the title or the lyrics.
Just a quick recap of this battle series so far:
October: The Marvelettes took on Brenda Lee, and The Marvelettes won that battle.
November: The Marvelettes took on Glenn Miller. It was a tight race, but Glenn Miller took the win!
December: Glenn Miller took on Tom Waits and maintained his hold in first place.
January: We took a little break in the series for a special Tiny Tim battle
February: Glenn Miller took on Wilson Pickett and it was extremely close. I broke the tie and Wilson Pickett won
March: Wilson Pickett took on the B52s, and won 2 to 1.
April: We took another break for a special April Fools battle
Here we are in May and we have Wilson Pickett taking on a new contender.
So let’s get right to it!
Wilson Pickett
Squeeze
Will Wilson Pickett hold his title for another month or will we have a new title holder?
In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:
Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.
Pick the contender that you prefer the most
Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.
Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.
Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted on the 8th of this month.
I like them both! But I gotta go with Cathy on this one, WILSON PICKETT ultimately gets my vote. :)
ReplyDeleteIn the late eighties & early nineties I was on a big Squeeze kick. Loved the group and went to see them at a Hollywood club even. Great group with dynamite songs. It's nice to hear them again.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Squeeze.
Lee
I have to go with the soul man, Wilson Pickett. Squeeze was light and breezy, but I prefer the classics.
