Ode to Spring Battle
Today’s battle is an Ode to Spring.
I know what you’re thinking - you’re thinking ‘Girl, you need a better calendar because Spring happens in March!’
Well, if you live in any of the Northern states, you will know that Spring has taken its sweet time to arrive. It’s great to get the much needed moisture, but I’d really like to get that in a warm rain, thanks. Mother Nature, can you make that happen, please?
When I think of Spring, I think of trees and flowers coming back to life. Crocuses and daffodils pushing their way through the cold ground to restore color to our world.
In honor of this, the song that is being battled today is ‘Bring Me To Life’ originally done by Evanescence. And because it seems to be a favorite type of battle, it will be male voice vs female.
Are you ready?
Buckle up and give our contestants a good listen before you cast your vote.
The first contender is Daughtry
Or second contender is First To Eleven
In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:
Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me.
Pick the contender that you prefer the most
Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.
Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out. *I think this is a recent list, if not, Cathy keeps a current list on her battle posts.
Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Did I make the right song choice for today?
This is a really tough Battle for me to decide. I really like this song a lot and both artists do an equally good job of interpreting the song. Since the original had a female vocalist that's the one I became most familiar with I'm going to go with the female vocalist in this pairing. Really I could go either way on this one.
ReplyDeleteGive my vote to First to Eleven.

When I think of Spring, I think of Claritin-D 24-hour allergy relief medication with 10 mg. of Loratadine and 240 mg. of Pseudoephedrine sulfate.
So, my only cherces in this Battle is either Baldy Boy or Belly Button Girl, eh?
Not always, but more times than not, when it's a male singer versus a female singer, I choose the male singer. And NOT because I'm a misogynist. I mean, I am, but that's not the reason. It's simply because I generally prefer male voices. And this case in no exception. So please give my BOTB "bote" to MOUNT BALDY BOY. (It's OK. My hair is thinning out too now, so I'm reaping my karmic konsequences.)
MMQE, I hope you can stop by at my place on the wrong side of the tracks and cast a bote. I have a 3-Way Battle going on: REO Journey Styxwagon (1979) versus REO Journey Styxwagon (1982) versus REO Journey Styxwagon (1985).

STMcC Presents BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Are y'all getting some spring weather yet? I sometimes forget how folks in other regions don't get to experience the return of warm weather and spring blooms until much later than us. I think of spring in your terms but I definitely understand the way Stephen associates the season, too. This spring has been a rough one for us. UGH!
ReplyDeleteExcellent battle! You put together two great covers. I've heard Chris' before I was pretty sure I would run with him in this showdown but "Belly Button Girl" as Stephen calls contender #2 made me think of the original but less angry sounding and so I'm giving my vote to First to Eleven!
Have a great week, my friend!

ReplyDeleteI'll go with First to Eleven as well. I like her voice better.
ReplyDeleteI've got to go with First to Eleven. The song just suits a feminine voice in my opinion.
