Weekly Song Challenge #17/Totally Awesome 80's - X #AtoZChallenge
Welcome back to the Totally Awesome 80’s!
A time when our clothes were bright and vivid (nobody had to tell us to NOT eat the laundry soap!). A time before cell phones, and it was the very beginning of a time of personal computers. We had some unforgettable tunes, and that is what we’re focusing on today!
So, grab your big plastic earrings, put on your acid washed jeans, and let’s dance!
NOTE: Due to the lack of X tunes, I’m bending the rules and sharing more random 80s music.
Today’s Playlist
1980 - Another Brick In The Wall, Pt 2 - Pink Floyd
1981 - Hey Nineteen - Steely Dan
1982 - I Ran - Flock of Seagulls
1983 - The Safety Dance - Men Without Hats
1984 - The Reflex - Duran Duran
1985 - The Power of Love - Huey Lewis & The News
1986 - I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On - Robert Palmer
1987 - The Lady in Red - Chris de Burgh
1988 - A Groovy Kind of Love - Phil Collins
1989 - Forever Your Girl - Paula Abdul
BONUS:
On Wednesdays, I present a Weekly Song Challenge. I’m going to just include that challenge in this post to make it easier on everyone. The linky below is for those joining in the Song Challenge for this week. Click Here for more information. Because I struggled to find any X tunes from the 80s, I didn’t limit myself in this week’s challenge.
A Song about an Ex: Happier - Ed Sheeran
A Song that begins with the letter X: X - System of a Down
A Song performed by the band XTC: Respectable Street
Come back tomorrow to see what ‘M’ songs are reppin’ the 80s!
Hey Mary,
ReplyDeleteI came by earlier this morning, hit play and listened to your entire playlist. However, I forgot to leave a comment. *roll eyes* Yep, the chaos of my life is getting the better of me. Thanks for sharing a great set of songs for my listening pleasure today.
X-ray Looney Tunes A-Z Art Sketch
I'm back! I totally skipped over your WSC picks. It wasn't until I popped over to Birgit's that I realized my goof. Hopefully, I'll be back next week to join the fun. Anywho the ones you came up with are all introductions. BTW, the second track won't play.
DeleteLove Phil Collins version of Groovy Kind of Love and sad that Robert Palmer died so young. He has some great hits.
ReplyDeleteThe first six songs on the main playlist more than made up for the lack of "X" songs. By the way, your X by System of Down says "Video Unavailable" but I found it on You Tube and played it. I'm familiar with the group but not this particular song. It would be great to exercise to.
ReplyDeleteTwo great playlists!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the songs and the weekly list although the only song I know from XTC is the one on my playlist(right now, can't remember the name). The Sheeren video is quite good.
ReplyDeleteGreat tunes, but I actually have an 80s X tune over at my blog: Xanadu! =)
ReplyDeleteBlack and White: X for Xanadu
Gotta tell those 80s artists to make more X music! 🤣
ReplyDeleteI love letter X posts! Always such variety.
It's hard to believe the alphabet part of the blogging challenge is over for 2021. Down to the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I'm taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
