Totally Awesome 80's - M #AtoZChallenge
Welcome back to the Totally Awesome 80’s!
A time when our clothes were bright and vivid (nobody had to tell us to NOT eat the laundry soap!). A time before cell phones, and it was the very beginning of a time of personal computers. We had some unforgettable tunes, and that is what we’re focusing on today!
So, put down your Rubiks Cubes, grab your RayBans, and let’s dance!
Today’s Playlist
1980 - Magic - Olivia Newton-John
1981 - Morning Train (Nine to Five) - Sheena Easton
1982 - Man On Your Mind - Little River Band
1983 - Mr Roboto - Styx
1984 - Major Tom (Coming Home) - Peter Schilling
1985 - Money For Nothing - Dire Straits
1986 - Manic Monday - The Bangles
1987 - Mony Mony - Billy Idol
1988 - Make Me Lose Control - Eric Carmen
1989 - My Prerogative - Bobby Brown
ps.. I would typically do a 'Throwback Thursday' post today, but as the entire month is a throwback, I've decided to skip today's normal post. I do hope that you will join me on Thursdays in the following months for a Throwback Thursday blog hop. The only rules for the blog hop is that your featured music be at least 10 years old.
Come back tomorrow to see what ‘N’ songs are reppin’ the 80s!
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI was unable to get to my normal Thursday posting. Hopefully next week will be better for me. I'm listening to yet another marvelous playlist of mega hits from the 80s. I have a BoTB going on today, separate post, if you have time to join in. Don't worry if you can't. ;) Happy A2Zing, my dear.

Again, thoroughly enjoyed this group especially Money, Money which I danced while Bowie was singing this. I was very close to the stage. He came to the university I was in. It was for our party week. I also had this song at my wedding which was a big hit. I have not heard Mr. Roboto in years so that was fun. The Dire Straits video was so cool for its time and a great song about dumb ass music. I had no idea that My Prerogative was sung by Bobby Brown first. I just thought it was a Britney Spears song.
ReplyDeleteExcellent list for the letter M. Ah, Olivia! A bit poppy schlocky perhaps, but I loved everything she did.

Ah Sheena - born not far from where I was in Scotland. Remember this song - it was called 9 to 5 in the UK, but came out the same year as Dolly Parton's 9 to 5, so in the US they changed the name of it to Morning Train. And it got to No.1 and made her career!

This playlist gave me the chance to listen to one of my favorite 80's songs - Mr. Roberto. It's been a long time since I listened to "Major Tom (Coming Home)". "M" was a good letter as far as the 1980's and songs I like.
