#RMF2019: ZZ Top

Day 20 of #RocktoberMusicFest2019

Today’s post is about the three beards. Two have beards and the third is named Beard. They have been playing together for 50 years.

Wikipedia tells us this about ZZ Top:
ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. The band has, since 1970, consisted of vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist/vocalist Dusty Hill, and drummer Frank Beard. "As genuine roots musicians, they have few peers", according to critic Michael "Cub" Koda. "Gibbons is one of America's finest blues guitarists working in the arena rock idiom while Hill and Beard provide the ultimate rhythm section support."

Here are 10 of their songs:

  1. Legs
  2. Gimme All Your Lovin’
  3. La Grange
  4. Sharp Dressed Man
  5. Tush
  6. Rough Boy
  7. Got Me Under Pressure
  8. Sleeping Bad
  9. Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers
  10. Pearl Necklace

These guys aren't just great players, they're great performers. Great to listen to, fun to watch...

    1. They are definitely a lot of fun to watch. Right after I was married a million years ago, my ex and I took my bridesmaid and her husband and the best man and his wife, as well as one of my brothers to a concert that had a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band as openers with ZZ Top as headliners. It was a lot of fun.

    1. Ahhh... That's really too bad. They can be a lot of fun, and Billy Gibbons has a great voice!

Alright, Deep Purple followed by ZZ Top . . . now yer more speakin' my language. So . . . I guess I will (begrudgingly) call off "The Judge" - who could have made your life miserable, thanks to my greasing of his palm.

BUT! . . . I'm still gonna be real disappointed if The Beach Boys don't make an appearance before this thang be done.

Before I got my idea to "run with Van-The-Man", I was seriously thinking of starting off my 'Rocktoberfest' series with . . .

*THAT* is my personal "Fight Song!" When it reaches the point where the electric guitar and horns shine, I am seriously ready kick someone's (i.e., anyone's) ass!

LOVE that song! And The Beach Boys - as famous as they are - might still be one of the all-time MOST underrated bands in Rock history!

Nevertheless, this is the MMQE show, so . . . carry on, my friend!

I, uh... whooo boy.... how do I say this? hmmmm....

I uh... didn't plan any Beach Boys posts.. In fact, you might want to brace yourself because.... things *MAY* get a little bumpy for the rests of the month.

However, there is still plenty of month left and plenty of time left if *ahem* YOU would like to include a post or two about them :)

I ain' skeered of no judge....

  5. Mary,

ZZ Top is a fun group. Those guys aren't much to look at with all that long hair and beards, makes me wonder what they are hiding, but they sure know how to jam. 'Legs' is my favorite tune but this is a great playlist and I have many of these songs on their greatest hits album.
