#RMF2019: Stone Temple Pilots
Day 30 of #RocktoberMusicFest2019
Today’s featured band is one that I saw in concert with Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had to have a good laugh as my cousin was pregnant with her first and her husband was worried about the sound level affecting the child in the womb. Even though she had her doctor tell him everything would be alright, she put a cotton ball in her navel just to make her husband feel better. The child is out of high school now, and only experiences ‘selective’ hearing as any normal teenager.
Wikipedia tells us this about Stone Temple Pilots:
Stone Temple Pilots are an American rock band from San Diego, California, that originally consisted of Scott Weiland, brothers Dean DeLeo and Robert DeLeo, and Eric Kretz. The band's line-up remained unchanged from its formation in 1989 until the firing of Weiland in February 2013. Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington joined the band in May 2013, but left amicably in November 2015 to focus solely on Linkin Park. On December 3, 2015, Weiland was found dead on his tour bus before a performance with his band The Wildabouts. In 2016, the band launched an online audition for a new lead vocalist and announced Jeff Gutt as the new lead singer of the band on November 14, 2017.
Here are 10 of their songs:
- Big Empty
- Interstate Love Song
- Plush
- Vasoline
- Big Bang Baby
- Dead and Bloated
- Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart
- Sex Type Thing
- Creep
- Sour Girl
Have you seen Stone Temple Pilots in concert? Have you ever done anything crazy just to see a band or performer?

Mary,
ReplyDeleteSTP never made it to my radar...I don't think. After looking over the song titles, I recognized 'Creep' but after listening to it I realized it's not the same as the one I've grown used to by Radiohead. The group and all your featured songs are new to me. Thanks for the introduction and for hosting the fun this month, my dear. Check out Dan Fogelberg singing Old Tennesee when you get a chance. Have a rockin' good day!
Hi Cathy!
DeleteSTP is more of an acquired taste. Yes, I saw them in concert with Red Hot Chili Peppers, but STP wasn't really on my radar in those days, either. It was only about 10 years ago that I started listening to them more frequently.
Thank you so much for joining in the #RocktoberMusicFest. It's been a success, I think. Will be over to your page in a bit to catch up.
Not on my radar either.
ReplyDeleteMy post of the day: A Scary Rocktober
Hi Robin!
DeleteHaving some trouble opening the link again... I'll get it figured out and make that visit to your page soon!
Thanks for playing along this year!
The Ides Of March, “Vehicle”
ReplyDeleteNor on mine, I'm afraid...
No worries... as I mentioned to Cathy above, STP is an acquired taste. Unfortunately, most of their good stuff was while Scott Weiland was strung out on drugs.
