#RMF2019: The Doors
Day 12 of #RocktoberMusicFest2019
Today’s band has been around as long as I’ve been alive, but I really didn’t pay much attention to them until 1991 when the regained popularity via the film ‘The Doors’. Of course, there was a handsome young man trying to get my attention that loved these guys and we listened to their music quite a bit.
Wikipedia tells us this about The Doors:
The Doors were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. They were among the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly because of Morrison's lyrics and his erratic stage persona, and the group was widely regarded as representative of the era's counterculture.
Here are 10 of their songs:
- Light My Fire
- L.A. Woman
- Roadhouse Blues
- People Are Strange
- Break on Through (to the other side)
- Love Me Two Times
- Love Her Madly
- Hello, I Love You
- Touch Me
- Riders On The Storm
What is your favorite Doors song?

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Doors song? Riders on the Storm
The Association, “Windy”
ReplyDeleteI always liked "Light My Fire," particularly the extended version.
Light My Fire was always a favorite. You know we couldn't get much higher!
DeleteLOVE THEM. Love, love, love, love, love them! I'll be playing this playlist all weekend long as I go about cleaning and making. It's really hard for me to pick a favorite song, as I love so many of them. But I think "Roadhouse Blues" and "L.A. Woman" are always my top two.
ReplyDelete#RMF2019 for 10.12.2019
I'm seriously considering LA Woman for a future battle of the bands.
DeleteAlthough I love the Door's hits, I am even more fond of their lessor known songs. I think my favorite would be "Waiting For the Sun", especially the line "This is the strangest life I've ever known." So here's my contribution (still not in html) https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2019/10/waiting-for-sun-blogboost.html

ReplyDeleteI was a huge fan of The Doors in my teen years, and I think I owned every one of their albums. And in my early twenties, I heard from a few folks that they thought I looked like Jim Morrison.
Fun Fact: The last bit of "acting" I ever did was in playing Jim Morrison in a script I wrote for a friend of mine who was in film school and needed to create a 20-30 minute movie for her final exam. She later went on to become an editor in Hollyweird. She worked on the movie 'Groundhog Day', and some others. I can say I played Jim Morrison in a film even before Val Kilmer did. (Although his performance is a tad more well known than mine.)
As I got more into Blues and Jazz, I lost interest in The Doors. But I re-discovered them again a couple decades later.

My favorite Doors song isn't included in your 10-song playlist. I'll keep quiet about it for now, as I definitely plan to use it in a future BOTB.
Also, I have an idea for a BOTB contest that I'll probably never use, even though I think it's a pretty goot juan. This would a "Battle Of The Morrisons: Van Vs. Jim". If you think you might be interested in using it yourself, shoot me an Email sometime and give ya the details.

Mary,
ReplyDeleteTracks 1, 9, & 10 are ones I remember the best by The Doors. I'm not sure which is my favorite, though. These are great songs. Thanks for sharing some less known tracks to me by The Doors in this playlist.
