T-Z Unofficial #AtoZChallenge plus #BOTB Results
Time to wrap up the #AtoZChallenge. I know, I know… for most of you it doesn’t end until Monday, April 30.
Being that I’ve been joining in the fun in an unofficial capacity, I’m taking a few liberties.
If I stayed with the regular weekly schedule, it would leave poor letter Z all by itself on Monday. I can’t do that. Z needs to stay together with it’s friends so it won't be so lonely.
As you know, I’ve chosen the theme of Classic Rock for this challenge.
If you would like to see the playlists for the previous weeks, you can find them here:
Here are the songs I’ve chosen for this week (T through Z):
- Truckin’ - Grateful Dead
- Up On Cripple Creek - The Band
- VooDoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
- Wild Thing - Troggs
- Xanadu - Rush
- You’re My Best Friend - Queen
- Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie
If you’d like to see the entire AtoZ playlist, you can find that here:
A through Z Playlist
Thanks for playing along with me. Go ahead and let these play in the background as you visit the other blogs participating in the challenge or as you go about your day.
Before I leave -
I need to tell you about the most recent battle of the bands.
We had three lovely ladies wanting you to ‘Cry Me A River’. There was a pretty decent turnout for the battle.
The Results:
Joan Baez with 1 vote
Diana Krall with 5 votes
Natalie Cole with 6 votes
And one non-vote. (The poor blogger wasn't able to form an opinion. I shall light a candle for them and say a prayer that their blogging abilities are not as bad as their decision making)
Personally, I’m happy with the results. I was rooting for Natalie Cole all the way. I’m just ecstatic that it wasn’t a blowout.
A word about the battle happening next week:
I’m going to need you to put on your big girl/boy undies and keep an open mind. That’s all I’m going to say about it for now. Hope to see you in the comments!
I love all your A-Z music this week, and can't wait to come back and see your battle....sounds like it's going to be my kind of battle! I haven't come back yet, but if I do, people may want to keep those big girl panties/boy undies handy. If my past battles are any indication, LOL!

DeleteI sure hope you join us for battles again. It would be awesome. Let's shake this place up!

Mary,
ReplyDeleteYou sure did stepped up to the A2Z Challenge in unofficial capacity that really rocked each week while helping to put the groove in Monday's Music Moves Me! The first three songs on your playlist are new-to-me...well I did stumble across 'Up On Cripple Creek' when I did my "I" post. so, I was somewhat familiar with it. Alright, there's one more on your list I didn't know, 'Xanadu'. When I first saw the song title I was think of ELO's song. :)
Yippee, my girl Natalie won the BoTB! *clap hands* That's who I went with. :) Have a funtastic day and whenever you can check out today's all-in-one post.

DeleteI am surprised that you weren't familiar with the first three songs. Many people confuse this version of Xanadu with Olivia Newton-John's song.
I should be around to your blog sometime this week :)

Uh-oh... big girl panty time? Lighting candles? You made my week start right. And a playlist to go with it. Have a great week, Mary! Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHaHa Alana!
DeleteGlad I could give your week a great start. Thanks for stopping by!

I love your style! And your playlist! And your hilarious hint for next week's BOTB! :) Thanks for making my Monday fun! Have a great week! :)

DeleteI sure hope to see you visit the battle next week. It's sure to be a good one :)

Great songs. Anytime that you can you have the Dead and Hendrix together is okay by me.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patrick!
DeleteI thought they go pretty well, too :) Thanks for stopping by!

You mean I was the only person who voted for Joan Baez? Crazy, man...
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks that way, John. Although many commented on the fact they were surprised at how well she did the song. Maybe I should do more with her in it to see how she does...

Ahhhh Grateful Dead! We have a band in the neighborhood called, "Dead Guise", and they're a tribute band to the Grateful Dead & they're quite good. Maybe next time we go to their concert I'll video tape them & post it! Anyway, my dad loved this song because he was a trucker & he'd sing it around the house. ~hehehe~ Thanks for bringing back a very pleasant memory for me & thanks for joining us today! Oh, and I look forward to you list you've chosen for the remaining letters. My favorite would be You're my best friend/Queen... I love most of Queens tunes.
ReplyDelete>>...Oh, and I look forward to you list you've chosen for the remaining letters.
DeleteUmmmm... they're all right here in this post.
~Mary
I just do them day by day... don't have a list. Due to me going through many tests right now I just don't have the time to sit down & do in advance. There was a lump found on the left side of my midriff & I'm doing an ultrasound and other tests. Sorry, it'll have to be a day by day for me. Have a good one my friend & always get your checkup when it's time. Take nothing for granted. I wish you great health! hugs
DeleteGreat Battle, MMQE! A one-vote margin of victory is, IMO, the ultimate BOTB outcome. And I'm pleased that my girl, Natalie, beat out Diana for the win.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your next Battle. Sounds like it'll be one for the BOTB Record Book.

STMcC Presents 'BATTLE OF THE BANDS'
Howdy Mr Stephen!
DeleteI was quite pleased with the outcome myself. For as much trash was strewn about regarding Diana, she really held her own here. I sure hope next week turns out to be as fun as I am making it to be. I still can't believe that you had to look up what NSFW meant :)
~Mary
Great choices for this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteWhoa! It's a history of classic rock! Thanks for the tunes!
ReplyDeleteHey Cathy!
DeleteGlad you enjoyed :) See you next week!
~Mary
Great list of tunes, although I have to say Up On Cripple Creek is my favorite of them all. My son has been musical, I swear, even before he could walk. In high school he played guitar and I can still remember coming home one night to a group of his friends upstairs strumming this tune and singing along. xx
ReplyDeleteAlison,
DeleteI was really happy to see The Band make the list as well. I recall watching a documentary a year or so ago on Levon Helm. Loved every minute of it!
The cute one keeps me on my toes these days. Every song that comes on the radio (we listen to Classic Rock frequently) He's asking me to name the song and the artist. 9 times out of 10, he knows the answer long before I do.
Keep encouraging your son - that's a great skill that will last a lifetime. Thanks for stopping by!
~Mary
Ooh, I hope you do host more challenges featuring Joan Baez. Be well!
ReplyDeletePerhaps one day I can join this A-Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that Z should not be alone all the time :)
Thanks for sharing and rocking.
I am glad i found your blog, lots of interesting stuff. The weekly list is very inspiring, personally i love David Bowie the most, but Xanadu by Rush is great too
