Blue Songs and #BOTB Results
Before we get started with today's post, let's go over the Battle of the Bands Results. I know... I know…. I said the results would be posted on the 22nd, but life has been just a wee bit crazy for me lately. I do hope you understand.
The battle was a cover of 'November Rain', with the contenders being Steve N Seagulls, Steel Ape, and Amadeus Electric Quartet. I was really surprised by the results. Steve N Seagulls were included as more of a joke than anything, but look how well they did! Steel Ape did their best to mimic GNR, but they didn't get any love at all. And Amadeus Electric Quartet really made the song sing without lyrics.
The final results:
Steve N Seagulls with 4 votes
Steel Ape with 0 votes
Amadeus Electric Quartet with 6 votes
Thank you everyone for indulging me with your vote! We'll have a new round of battles on December 15th, with new songs and new contenders.
Now onto today's regular post:
It’s a freebie theme week for Monday’s Music Moves Me. The past month or so have been quite trying for me, so I came up with my own theme for this week:
Songs With the Color Blue in the Title
There are lots of songs with various colors in their titles, but since I’ve been a bit blue lately, I’m going with song with Blue in the title. Again, I am limiting myself to just five songs this go around, because I think the longer playlists can be a bit tiresome, and well... I just don’t have the patience for a longer playlist.
In today’s playlist, you’ll find songs from the following artists:
Keith Urban
The Who
Tommy James & The Shondells
Dr. Hook
Debbie Gibson
What do you do to get yourself out of the duldrums? What did you think of the Battle of the Bands outcome? Talk to me in the comments (no short comments, please!)
Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked and Curious as a Cathy. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.
Keith Urban is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine especially after the awards he recently won! I was so happy when they called his name he works so hard & it also helps to be so darn cute! Thanks for sharing his tune! Have a great week. Oh & what I do to get me out of the duldrums I either go shopping at goodwill or watch one of my Christmas movies and/or old movies that I love! ROCK ON GIRLFRIEND!

DeleteHe really is a cutie! I'm more of a fan of George Strait, but Keith Urban is slowly growing on me.
~Mary
Fun songs! Really like The Who and Keith Urban
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike!
DeleteI thought it was a pretty good edition today as well.
~Mary
Hi Mary; Aww, the Finnish Bluegrass band didn't win? Oh well, Amadeus was very good. The Who and Tommy James both bring back a lot of good memories, so those stood out from your playlist the most. Keith Urban is fast becoming the Superstar he deserves to be. Incredible guitarist! The other two songs were new to me. Wishing you a good week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie!
DeleteIt's so good to see you here in the the blogosphere again. Have a great week!
~Mary
Very nice playlist-Anytime you add Debbie Gibson-you got a winner.
ReplyDeleteLOL Patrick!
DeleteDebbie Gibson is a secret guilty pleasure from back in the day. I wore out the cassette tape, playing it non-stop!
~Mary
Sorry to hear you’ve been down lately Mary. I think everyone goes through down periods in their life, but hopefully that’s all it is and not something mental health-related.
ReplyDeleteJust to offer some hope for a better tomorrow, I’d like to point out that Debbie Gibson’s song is not so much about being blue as much as it is about breaking out of feeling blue. I also wanted to offer this song as an upbeat one that, although may be about feeling blue, the rythmn and upbeat tempo might help you think positively about the future.

Take good care Mary! All the best!
Darren
Thanks, Darren!
DeleteThat song was #6 on my list :) I'll probably do another list in the future with more songs featuring the word 'blue' in the title. I appreciate your sentiments.
~Mary
I've been a bit blue lately as well. Things have been looking up over the past few days so I hope that's an ongoing trend.
ReplyDeleteI thought the hillbilly band was winning, but the quartet was a worthy opponent so their win is okay by me.

Tossing It Out
Hi Lee
DeleteIt was definitely an interesting battle this go around. The scores were tied right to the end, when the final two votes pulled Amadeus through to a win. I thought for sure no one would be voting for those Hillbillies. Proved me wrong. I've got a great battle lined up for Dec 15.
~Mary
Mary,
ReplyDeleteLast week was a wild one for us all but it's time to get back to normal or as normal as we can with more holiday fun on the loom. Thanks for the sharing the outcome of your last BoTB. My pick didn't win but I'm not surprised. I enjoyed your "Blue Tunes" playlist. "Crystal Blue Persuasion" is a favorite of mine. Thanks for hitting the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a good week, my friend! ;)
Hi Cathy
DeleteCrazy is a good way to describe this past week. Definitely a wild ride. Yesterday I was so busy, I barely had time to think and literally poured myself into bed after all was said and done.
~Mary
Mary,
DeleteI've been that tired where all I can think about is, "I can't wait to pull the covers over my head." It's a great feeling when it finally happens, too. I'm trying to not let the busyness of the season become too exhausting. I gave myself permission to do what I want for the day then carry over it to the next without guilt. Have a good week, dearie and hopefully things slow down a bit for you today.
There are a ton of songs with the color blue in the title, but they only one coming to mind is I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee). There are definitely some from abbey roads, but just aren't coming to mind. Keith Urban is making a comeback, I can listen to Female all day.
ReplyDeleteHi Dennis!
DeleteI really like the I'm Blue (Da Ba Dee), and it think it was the Keith Urban song that was stuck in my head when I decided to make this post. But you are correct, there are a TON of songs with the color blue in them.
~Mary
Sorry I missed the battle. I'm surprised about the zero vote. Now I'll have to check out these versions. Hope you're having a better week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Darla.
DeleteIt's just a crazy time of year with an extra helping of stress right now. Hopefully it will ease up soon. Thanks for stopping by.
~Mary
For time of year the blues can happen and songs are always a good way to fend them off.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree! Listening to music can almost always bring me out of a funk.
Delete~Mary
Great song! For me, I really enjoy getting out for a good walk...snow or shine! A nice long run work well, too.
ReplyDelete"The holidays" can be a blue time for many - I've blogged about it a couple of times over the years. Music does help chear me up, and it was nice listening to one of my faves from the 60's, Crystal Blue Persuasion. Hope the next 4M finds you feeling better, Mary. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLIke I tell my kids. There is a song for everything! haha.
ReplyDeleteLove it.
