Becky Lawrence: A Child's Tears
Becky Lawrence hails from the Isle of Man and is a graduate from The London School Of Musical Theatre.
Currently working on her own music with a platinum selling producer in Bristol and a fantastic sound engineer, Becky can be found playing along side The Bourbons UK in Bath. Becky would describe her style as 'country fusion' which she describes as being "totally organic and was formed by simply putting all my favourite styles into one large bowl and giving it a good mix!" She hopes she can make more people aware of this brand new genre of singing.
With a background of Musical Theatre, Becky enjoy's getting her thought's across through various genres of music and lyrics. Being brought up listening to bands like AC/DC, Alice Cooper, The Carpenters, Genesis, Becky's vocal style can adapt to whatever is going on. Her main love though is country music and that is the genre she is striving to work towards.
Becky Answers my Questions:
1. When did you first start singing (or playing your instrument)?
I started singing probably when I was really little but I started taking it more seriously when I was around 14 years old, having regular lessons, first in classical and then in musical theatre.

'If I Were A Butterfly' when I was around 4 or 5, in an assembly at school, in front of my friends. Bless haha!
3. Who are your musical inspirations?
I honestly have so many but I would say my main ones are Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac and Dolly Parton. Being brought up surrounded by a variety of music, I think I take inspiration from everything really including Prog rock, jazz and main stream rock. I was head banging to 'She's Got The Jack' by ACDC at 3 years old!
4. What genre of music do you listen to today?
Again, a little bit of everything but mainly rock, prog rock and country.
5. What embarrassing songs might I find on your MP3 player?
About 200 hundreds musicals and ABBA?
6. Where would you most like to perform?
At the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. It looks like an amazing little venue and it appears on my ultimate favourite TV show, Nashville!
7. If you weren't a musician, what would you be doing?
Maybe a Photographer or something to do with animals. I'm a very creative person so anything creative and practical.
8. What instruments do you play?
I can play a few notes on a Uke and I play by ear with the piano!
9. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
Definitely rock if my voice was rough enough!
10. What other talents do you have?
I can do a weird Chipmunk voice which I have been able to do for years and I have no idea how!
11. What is your favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car/for karaoke?
Wow, there are SO many! I love a bit of 'Alone' by Heart or 'Withering Heights' by Kate Bush!
12. If you could sing a duet with any musician, living or dead, who would it be?
Oh man...just one? It would have to be Kate Bush or Dolly Parton for sure.
13. What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Keeping the faith and believing in yourself can get hard sometimes but you just have to trust yourself and keep going. You only have one life so live it!
14. What has been the best advice you have ever been given?
Run your own race which will be my next tattoo. Always keep your eye on your own game and don't focus on what everyone else is doing.
