Maven Fiction: Can I Keep You?
Maven Fiction is a York based, indie-pop collective. The project started as an outlet for writing and production duo Aaron Ward (guitar/vocals) and Joe Mitchell (piano/synths) late 2011. Having met at primary school in Scarborough North Yorkshire, they parted ways shortly after and it wasn't until they had finished in education, until they rekindled their friendship to begin making music together.
This led to the release of their patriotic, piano driven pop song ‘This is my England’, which came out just in time for the Olympics making its way to London. The exposure of which brought exciting opportunities including UK tours and perspective changing gigs in New York.
They also caught the attention of Grammy and Ivor Novello winning Writer/Producer Steve Robson (Take That, One Direction, Olly Murs). He saw great potential in Maven Fiction and advised they took some time off from performing to hit the studio and work on some follow up releases. He lent his ears and has coached Maven Fiction on writing their new material. This has resulted in some great new tracks which the band hopes to release this year. They have recently enlisted bassist Tom Cutforth and Jon Dawes on drums to add a new dynamic to the live shows and plan to now return to the stage following releases later this year.
