Danny Shipley
Danny Shipley is a 23 year old Christian Contemporary musician. He does shows in the greater Cleveland area every weekend, and he loves playing music.
Danny has been playing guitar for the past 10 years and does not plan on stopping any time soon. He owns a total of 6 guitars and uses them for different styles and influences in music such as Jazz, Rock, Blues, Folk, and Country.
Danny writes all of his own music and has collaborated with many musicians in his musically talented (but often overlooked) city of Cleveland, Ohio.
His band changes members almost every gig, but always has lots of dynamic with the changes.
Pilot EP was released in 2014. This fall, he is hoping to release another EP along with a music video, and plans to do a mini tour in Illinois. He plans to always be learning new things, uplifting lives, and sharing his love and passion for music in this wild journey.
Danny was a good sport and answered my cheesy questions.
1. When did you first start singing?
I First started singing at 1. I have always sang, but as far as singing in public....That would be around the time I was in choir when I was 12.
2. What was the first song you recall singing?
Highway to the danger zone. Top Gun ;)
3. Who are your musical inspirations?
John Mayer, Keith Urban, and B.B. King.
4. What genre of music do you listen to today?
Country, Rock, Pop, and blues. Its always circling back to those 4.
5. What embarrassing songs might I find on your MP3 player?
February Air- Lights
6. Where would you most like to perform?
Greater Cleveland area.
7. If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?
Playing my guitar. But I actually do not practice singing as much as I practice guitar. I only sing when performing or when I am bored haha.
8. What instruments do you play?
Guitar, and I know the basics of playing drums...
10. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
I dabble in all genres....But I would love to touch into EDM with guitar playing and singing at one point. I workout to that kind of music....All the time.
11. What other talents do you have?
I can talk like a duck!
12. What is your favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car/for karaoke?
Living on a prayer, Bono Jovi!
13. If you could sing a duet with any musician, living or dead, who would it be?
You know...I never think about that, but I would love to do a song with Lecrae.
14. What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
Starting....Nobody cares about you when you are just starting off.
15. What has been the best advice you have ever been given?
To make it in the music scene, you have to have more then just a drive to be famous. You have to love music and be passionate, when all eyes are on you at one point...Others will catch on and see that you are in it more then just for the fame, but you are a true musician.
Please give Danny a like and a follow on his social media, it would greatly be appreciated!
